Journalism

"Stories are the currency of human relationships." - Robert McKee

Current employment

I currently work as an Opinions Editor for the Washington Post, helping coach and publish freelance writers while writing and contributing to the department's audience development.

Past employment

Previously, I worked as a City Editor for KCtoday, writing a hyperlocal newsletter with a mission to educate and activate the community on relevant, exciting, and uplifting news.

I was also a manager for KCtoday's parent company, 6AM City, and I have training in company culture, personnel and project management, KPIs, and analytics.

Additional work I'm proud of:

Beneath the Bricks (digital reporting, FOX4)

8 in the Air (drone features, WQAD)

Rural newsroom ambassador (Missouri School of Journalism)

Work + Life is a new venture, combining my interests of career and well-being with my love of writing. This newsletter blog is an exercise in persuasive argumentation, creative problem solving, and abstract ideation. It's also an attempt at cleverness, wit, and profundity. Note: I said "attempt."

Photography

I specialize in portrait and special event photography. I have taken pictures professionally for fashion shows, family photos, headshots, and graduations. I've also been hired as a videographer and video editor for drone shoots, compilation videos, and marketing/branding materials.
